What Ya Been Reading

Well this has taken me longer then expected but I wanted to just through out a couple things that I have found since I have been reading.

It has been great to get in the word and go through it from front to back.  I don't remember the last time I did something like this. One thing that I keep thinking is how fast things really unfold when reading.  So often we read one story and jump some place else and don't ever get a good idea of time line.  In the reading today I was surprised to see again the Beheading of John the Baptist then right into feeding the 5000.  Jesus was trying to mourn and never really had time to grieve the loss of a friend.

It has also been fun to re-read the parables and just get the important things of Christ through simple stories.  When reading that only those who believe will understand this it makes me feel a little more confident in my faith because I do understand what he is talking about.

The stories of all the people who just had faith and there family was healed is amazing to me.  I often think what if we had faith like that today.  I know that I don't often times believe that is possible today but part of me just wonders what could this World be like if we could just catch a glimpse of that again.  Christ could turn this place upside down, but I also don't really know if we would believe it.  Would we dismiss it as false teaching and things?  I don't know just some of my thoughts in reading.

One final thing that I forgot about is how often Christ dealt with demon possession.  It was so prevalent in that day and time.  Do you think it is still that big today.  I am sure there are places it is but I also thank God that I have never really had to experience that or deal with that.  I don't know what I would do or how to go about it.  That was not a class I took in Bible College

Well I hope you keep on reading.  I have loved doing this and will continue to make it a point each day.  This has been a great refresher but I also see Satan using this against me so be on guard for how Satan will use scripture against you and take it out of context or distort is.

First 8 Chapters

Well I have started the 100 day reading challenge and been doing really well.  I will write more on my observations on Monday but just wanted to see how everyone was doing with it.  I have loved making it the first part of my morning and not even getting out of bed sometimes to read it but just staying right where I wake up pick up my Bible and get into the Word of God.  What better way to start the day then with the most important thing I could read in front of me.  Keep on reading we have lots of great to stuff to cover but just wanted to tell you all I am reading as well.  Good Luck!

Just getting Started

My goal with this blog is to share what is happening in my life and ministry with those who care to know.  That may sound crazy or strange but over the next 100 days I am going to be reading through the whole New Testament and hopefully blogging about it fairly often.  This is for 2 reasons, one to hold me accountable to reading if I know people may read this and see what I have found in my reading but also to hopefully start some discussion about what we are reading.  I hope you will all join me in 100 days of reading challenge that has been layed out by my church.  Let me know if you want the reading schedule.  It starts Thursday September 23 and will go through the last 100 days of the year finishing on New Years Eve.  I am excited about this challenge and have challenged each of the students in my ministry here @ Macomb Christian Church to take part in this as well.  So join me as we begin this journey together
